Dholera Village Records

What the 22 villages inside the Dholera project area actually have today: schools, health centres, water, power and roads. Every figure carries its own date.

Getting around

Is there anything to do here

A fair question and one nobody publishes an answer to. Here is every recreation and public space column the census records, for all 22 Dholera villages, including the ones that are empty.

0cinemas and 0 libraries in any of the 22 villages

Almost nothing, and the census is honest about it

No cinema in any of the 22 villages. No library in any of them. No sports club. One village had a reading room and 2 had a sports field. A community centre, which in practice is the hall a village uses for everything from meetings to weddings, was recorded in 7.

The two things every village did have are a delivered daily newspaper and, in 21 of the 22, a polling station. Those are worth noticing. They are the two places where a village is connected to the wider country without leaving it.

One caution about reading this page too harshly. These columns are narrow. They count buildings, and village life mostly does not happen in buildings. A temple courtyard, a field used for cricket and a shaded spot outside a shop have no column here and never will.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot see a temple, a cricket match in a field, or a wedding hall. The census recreation columns are narrow and they miss most of what village life actually consists of. Read this as a list of built facilities, not as a description of a place.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot be turned into a quality of life score. This register does not rank the villages against each other on anything, because the source does not support it and a ranking would be an opinion wearing a number.

One warning that applies to this whole page. The census amenity columns describe 2009, not 2026. Nothing built in the Dholera region after 2009 is in them, and an absence here is not proof of an absence on the ground today. It is proof that the last national survey of these villages did not find one.
