Dholera Village Records

What the 22 villages inside the Dholera project area actually have today: schools, health centres, water, power and roads. Every figure carries its own date.

How far a child travels for school

A primary school is usually in the village. Everything above it is not. This page walks the school ladder rung by rung and prints where each rung actually sits for each of the 22 villages.

Where the ladder breaks

Getting a five year old to school is a different problem from getting a fifteen year old to school, and the census is precise about where the difference bites. A primary school was inside the village in 21 of the 22 cases. Above that level, almost nothing was.

Not one of the 22 villages had a pre-primary class, which is nursery, LKG and UKG. Not one had a middle school. So a child in these villages starts school on foot and, somewhere around age eleven, starts travelling.

There is a gap in the source here that we will not paper over. For middle school, the column that would tell you where the nearest one is prints N.A. for all 22 villages. The census recorded that there was no middle school in the village and then did not record where the nearest one was. That hole is printed as a hole.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot tell you where the nearest middle school is. The Village Directory prints N.A. in that column for all 22 villages, so the register prints a blank rather than guessing a distance. A blank here is a hole in the source, not a distance of zero.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot tell you which school, or how good it is. Only the level and the distance band are in the source. Named schools, where any could be confirmed, are on the schools page.

What this does not cover

This page is about distance, not about quality or size. Nothing in the school register the Ministry of Education runs, UDISE+ could be retrieved, because its school search is behind a challenge test that has to be solved by a human, so not one school record on this site carries a class range or an enrolment count. That is a real limit and it is printed on the schools page as well.

One warning that applies to this whole page. The census amenity columns describe 2009, not 2026. Nothing built in the Dholera region after 2009 is in them, and an absence here is not proof of an absence on the ground today. It is proof that the last national survey of these villages did not find one.
