Dholera Village Records

What the 22 villages inside the Dholera project area actually have today: schools, health centres, water, power and roads. Every figure carries its own date.

Colleges, polytechnics and training institutes

What happens after school finishes. This page prints every higher and technical institution the census asks about, and where the nearest one to the Dholera villages actually is.

0polytechnics or industrial training institutes

22villages that record the nearest one 10 km away or more

Usually a city rather than a town.

The honest answer is that there is nothing, and the nearest is a city

Not one of the 22 villages had a degree college, an engineering college, a medical college, a management institute, a polytechnic or an industrial training institute, which is where a school leaver learns a trade. Every one of those columns is recorded as absent in every village.

What the census does add is where the nearest one is, and the answer is almost always a city rather than a town. That turns higher education into a question about hostels and buses rather than a question about distance.

If you are weighing up a move here with a teenager in the house, this is the page that matters most, and it is the one that says the least comforting thing.

Everything above school level, and where the census puts itCensus of India 2011, Village Directory. The amenity columns carry an internal reference year of 2009, so this describes the ground in 2009 and not today.

Where this comes from: Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, District Census Handbook, Village Directory, Gujarat (state code 24), sheet Village_Data_2400, 396 columns. Census year 2011, amenity reference year 2009.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot tell you what opened after 2009. The Dholera region has since been the subject of announcements about training institutes, and an announcement is not a building. Nothing on this page counts one.

What would change this

Only a building with a name, a date and a document behind it. This register will add one when a government source names it, and not before. Until then the page you are reading is the state of the record.

One warning that applies to this whole page. The census amenity columns describe 2009, not 2026. Nothing built in the Dholera region after 2009 is in them, and an absence here is not proof of an absence on the ground today. It is proof that the last national survey of these villages did not find one.
