Dholera Village Records

What the 22 villages inside the Dholera project area actually have today: schools, health centres, water, power and roads. Every figure carries its own date.

What these villages come to Ahmedabad for

When a village does not have something, the census records the nearest place that does. Collect those answers for the 22 Dholera villages and Ahmedabad appears 119 times. Here is exactly what for.

What these villages actually come here for

The Census Village Directory does something quietly useful. When a village does not have a facility, the census records the nearest place that does, by name. Collect those answers across the 22 notified Dholera villages and you get a map of where daily life actually happens.

Ahmedabad is named 119 times across those columns. The table below is the full list: what the villages come for, how many of them, and how far the census put the journey.

One spelling note. The census prints this city as Ahmadabad and almost everyone else writes Ahmedabad. They are the same place. This register keeps the census spelling inside tables and uses the ordinary one in the headings.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot tell you the institution's name or whether it is still there. The census records the place, never the school or the college inside it, and it recorded it in 2009.

Which villages, and what else this place is to them

22 of the 22 villages name Ahmedabad in at least one column. For some of them it is also the nearest town, the taluka headquarters or the district headquarters, and where that is true the table says so with the distance the census recorded.

What this table cannot tell you It cannot tell you how anyone actually gets here. The census records a name and a band. It records no bus route, no fare and no journey time, and none was added.

The other places the villages name

Dhandhuka · Dholera · Bhavnagar · Barwala · Ranpur · Botad · Bhangadh

Each of those has its own page, built the same way from the same columns. The distance from every village to its nearest town is on a separate page.

One warning that applies to this whole page. The census amenity columns describe 2009, not 2026. Nothing built in the Dholera region after 2009 is in them, and an absence here is not proof of an absence on the ground today. It is proof that the last national survey of these villages did not find one.
